And after oh… five months? I’m back! Now, today I shall go over my anime list for this year. This year has been rather harsh on my viewing tastes, I did not have much to keep my eyes on this time around. There were only a few shows that caught my attention, and those were mostly centered around the start of the new season in April. Well, without further ado, let’s roll!
January
- Persona: Trinity Soul
I only watched a few episodes because I played one of the games oh so long ago. I figured it was worth a mention. - Shigofumi
This was an interesting show, too bad it was short. Featuring a mail carrier who carries the last letter of the soon-to-be-deceased, this show had some really good arcs and stories to tell. It was enjoyable, but once again, seemed to short. - Aria the Origination
Another mention, since I did watch Aria sometime in the past. Aria has to be the most peaceful and laidback show I had ever seen, which makes it good for watching on a rainy or snowy(I haven’t seen snow in ages) day when you’re snuggled under your covers comfortably keeping warm. - Wolf and Spice
I watched this for a while as well. Wolf and Spice was something different, it had a merchant and a wolf deity girl who loved apples. That’s all I remember of the show, that and something about economics which really was not all that important. Wolf girl Horo ftw!
February
- Kara no Kyoukai: Remaining Sense of Pain
The second movie of the series, I was once again completely delighted. I have been a fan of Type-Moon since I first saw their works. Remaining Sense of Pain was dark, bloody, and a great watch. The graphics were great, the music was great too. I would have loved to see this on the big screen. This is the first “Must Watch” of this year.

April
- xxxHolic: Kei
The next season of xxxHolic was worth the wait. It continues the misadventures of Watanuki, Doumeki, and that black manjyu. It covers a little more arcs from the manga and gives a nonconclusive ending to the anime series. I’m just going to have to read the rest of the manga. - Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2
If been stuck on this show since the first episode of season one. It’s got everything I could ask for from a single anime series. Hot chicks, ridiculous military weapons, crazy characters, insane superpowers, (forseen) plot twists, train wrecks(Thank you Derailed), everything. Let us not forget the Holy Empire Britannia and the Pizza Hut which rules over all. It’s like a roller coaster without seat belts or safety harnesses, nonstop fun and entertainment all the way to hell. This is the second “Must Watch” this year.
- Kamen no Maid Guy
Maid Guy is funny, and probably in a bad way. Along with its regular crazy hilarious humor, it brings perverted comedy to the table as well. Unfortunately, this show also has as many supporters as Hillary in the presidential campaign(I’m a proud Republican! McCain ftw!). I’m just glad I can watch the raws, although I probably did not catch half the jokes I could have if it was subbed. If only I was as cool as Maid Guy. - Special A
I started watching Special A because the lead male voice actor was the also the voice for Lelouch in Code Geass, but the show caught me for good. It revolves around seven super genius students in a special top honor class of a rich high class high school, them and all their adventures and hijinks. I love the male lead( Takishima Kei) in the show, taking on Lelouch’s arrogant and evil personality. Then there’s the female lead(Hanazono Hikari), whose voice actor played Mikuru in The Melancholy, but not using the Mikuru voice. In fact, her voice is practically the opposite of Mikuru this time around.
Special mention: they animated Hawaii. Automatic win.
May
- Kara no Kyoukai: Void Shrine
Actually, I haven’t seen it yet. Oops. But I will, I can guarantee that.
July
- Mahou Sensei Negima: Shiroki Tsubasa Ala Alba
Whoops, I haven’t seen it yet either. But I will, I liked the Shaft’s version of Negima more than that other one. Shaft just has that special touch when it comes to animation. Yeah… special touch… uh-huh.
Future
- Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Movie
Everyone loves Gurren Lagann, whoever doesn’t probably lives under a rock or something. The movie will most likely be a recap, but I’ll watch it anyway. To do otherwise is not acceptable. - Kara no Kyoukai: Paradox Spiral
Another Kara no Kyoukai movie, another one for me to watch. But first, I have to watch Void Shrine. - Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei
I loved the other two series of Higurashi, nothing beats killer-psychopathic-lolis. Nothing. Ever.
Far Future
- Clannad After Story
Set to air in October, the only reason I’m mentioning it is the hope they take the story from episode 24 of Clannad(I know that’s not happening, but I can dream).
- The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
Do I even need to talk about this? I mean come on, if you haven’t heard of this one you seriously need to get out more! (Or less? Since you would have to surf the net more? Damn contradictions.) Oh, and it’s not coming out until next year to the soonest.
As said, this year was rather lacking in watching material for me. Lucky for me, I busied myself in games and the English version of older animes from last year. Next time, its Gametime!
