The Japanese company NEC has disclosed plans to make cell phones from the ever-so-popular Eden of the East, and Evangelion. Unfortunately, it will probably only work in Japan unless some American company decides to port it over to the States. It’s quite interesting, and I’ll probably buy it only to display it on the same shelf as my Kos-Mos figures, Master Chief, and ever-growing horde of legos.

Let’s get started on the best anime of this season. And for the record, I stand by that statement. Higashi no Eden, translated to Eden of the East is about a man who lost his memories in front of the White House, three months after after a terrorist attack on Tokyo. The terrorist attack known as “Careless Monday” was an incident where ten missiles struck Japan, but there were no apparent victims.  All this man has to find out who he is, is a new blank cell phone, and a handgun.
(Oh yeah, spoiler alert.)

Here’s the two main characters, the man who has no idea who he is, and a college graduate who was on a trip in NYC but took a detour to DC.

OP Analysis!

That entire paragraph there is used in pieces throughout the entire OP, I can’t find out where its from, so it might even be original.

After a short time, I found this quote is from Brutus, that’s right, from Julius Caesar. (And once again, awesome cell phone.)

OP is by Oasis, I say “Falling Down!” was a good match for this OP. This or they give Yoko Kanno a call again. Here we also see Selecao 1 through 12. Selecao means Selection in Portuguese. Anyone else getting Majestic 12 vibes?

Noblesse oblige, that’s a French saying if I’m not mistaken. It has to do with privileges and responsibilities, you can read all about it.

The Actual Episode!

Cab Ass’n? I’m going to resist making the obligatory “junk in the trunk” joke. And I think they got the dash in the phone number in the wrong place.

Overall, I really liked their depiction of DC. I’ve never been there myself, but it feels like they accurately described it for the most part.

She needs to work on her football throw. And she’s realistically impossible. A girl that can fit all her clothes into one traveling bag? I can’t even do that and I’m a guy.

Oh noes! It’s the popo! Now to talk about all the English voices, they’re really well done. As they should be since they hired actual English speaking voice actors for the job. I really liked how the cop sounded all intimidating. And you can’t tell from the screenshot, but all the english in the episode was subbed in Japanese. Is it because the director wanted to make it seem more like a foriegn land where the viewer can’t understand the language is also intimidated? Or is it because people who watch anime are now completely fluent in English? Who knows. And you gotta love that “Oh Shit” face.

And here comes the main character. My first thoughts were somewhere along the line of “Wtf?” Then, “Hey, what’s the chance that the only break in that fence is in front of the White House.” And finally, “He’s waving a gun around in front of the White House and there’s only two cops? Where’s Homeland Security?”

I wanted to make a witty statement here, but I can’t find the words to describe how awesome that scene is. Something about filmtography or something…

And here we have a mysterious man who gives off evil vibes. “Mr. Outside” perhaps?

…and a handgun. That’s all he has. Not even any clothes on his back. Sounds like the start of an MMO gone wrong.

Hey, the department of Commerce. On a side note, does this guy remind anyone of Morita from Honey and Clover. It’s like this is what Morita’s job really was.

What’s the lesson here? Flash a man and he’ll give you his pants? I’m not going to test that. I love the girl’s statement here when she says “This is crazy!”

I love the fact that the first words out of this guys mouth was “Hey, what do you think you’re doing?” I think that’d be any normal person’s response. And the detail on those walls, wow. Looks like my old dorm and my old apartment. Oh speaking of apartment…

I’m seriously feeling like I took a step into my old apartment. Note: the most expensive thing in that room(that you can see right now) is probably that TV in the corner. Or that toaster… mmm… buttered toast…

I used to have maps on the walls of my room years ago. Of Hawaiian places mostly, but I took them down because I started to feel like a terrorist. If the FBI was to secretly raid my room, I don’t want to give them a reason to send to Guantanemo Bay.

I never saw Taxi Driver, but I loved the Bourne references.

Especially the one involving the toaster. We all know how much I love toasters.

And here’s all the information for the girl right here. There’s the tip guys! If you want to know everything about a girl, go for her passport or any other valid ID. You know… My passport photo looks like a mugshot. Theirs doesn’t. That just doesn’t feel right.

And here we have the main character name, Akira Takizawa, althought it seems to be doctored so none of that information can really be trusted. And also unlike a mugshot, that’s really not fair. Maybe its because their pictures are circular while mine was rectangular. Hmmm…

Toast is done!

So when police try to catch a suspect with only the size of his penis on a cold day to go on, you know its a lost cause. And the fact that he’s using the fact taht his penis shrunk in the cold to his advantage, that’s rather badass… or something. And I just Saki’s “OMGWTF?” face. Americans can’t make that face, because we’ve seen everything.

You can definitely see the Honey and Clover’s artist influence in the scenes, They are realistic, detailed, and utterly beautiful. And also, they’re in charge of character designs. I’m getting the urge to watch Honey and Clover all over again.

“Walk left, stand right.”

I’d like to take a moment to detract and point out how simple that is. AND PEOPLE STILL DON”T GET IT. Seriously, on a moving walkway, you walk on the left side, but if your just riding it, stand to the right. I can’t even count the number of idiots who blocked my way on the left side or walked into me on the right side. I know its nothing to make a big deal out of, but seeing that sign just made me want to get it off my chest.

“And my Johnny got whipped out!” That line floored me. That pose just finished me off. That’s the kind of pose I like to use. I really like Akira as a character, he’s just plain awesome, badass, and hilarious.

ED!

Futuristic Imagination by School Food Punishment. I really liked the OP and ED, they were both really well done and just plain awesome. You can see the Honey and Clover art influence in this ED, the things they do with paper in the ED just blow me away. I love the song and already have it ripped so I can listen to it without replaying the vid over and over. I can’t wait for their CD to come out at the end of May. And yes, I’m still laughing at the name… School Food Punishment… hahaha!

I'm a Sony and Koss fan myself.

I love my headphones, but I just got these awesome Bose headphones. They make even horrible songs sound heavenly. And I’m still enjoying my computer 5.1 surround sound system. It was the envy of everyone who lived in my dorm, even the guys on the first floor who could only hear the bass thumping(lol). With that said, you know that feeling when a song gets stuck in your head? Maybe even more than one? Because it was catchy or you just plain liked it? Or maybe even because it was played on the radio so many times you just can’t forget it?

I heard this one on the radio a lot when coming home from work one day. That’s all it took to get it stuck. Well that’s okay I guess, after all, it was number one for three weeks back in  March of 1990.

It’s been in my head so long I forgot how it got there in the first place, I don’t even watch American Idol so I didn’t even know that’s where he got so popular until I did the research. Well, I do know the reason it’s stuck in my head though, the song just speaks to me, almost like a theme song. Almost. I wish “Danger Zone” fit me better. The first few times I listened to it, I thought it was country, turns out, its soft rock… who knew?

Benny Lava? Umm… yeah…

Seriously, this song makes me laugh my lungs out every time I think about it. Hearing it makes me laugh out my kidneys. And that’s why its stuck. A friend linked me to it, I hate him forever, along with Benny Lava. Curse you, Benny Lava! Oh yeah, another double post.

I think I’ll end it on that note, it’s my birthday today and I think I’ll go enjoy it. I’ll post a summary someday in the future.

Good Morning America!

Live from CNN Los Angeles… wait, I mean CNN Atlanta. Oh wait a minute, nevermind. Today I want to turn back the calendar to January, when I first arrived in Atlanta in my little Camry. The first few weeks sure were a trip, lots of experiences and lots to talk about. No two days were the same, and that lasted for quite a while. So let’s get this started.

The first thing I really got acquainted with of course, was the highway. This particular piece of highway(all images thanks to Google Earth) is actually on the north side where the city looks a lot nicer in my opinion. The highway is definitely a sight to behold in its own right, and we should remember what I said about the Spaghetti Junction(lol). The highway through and around Atlanta range from 4 to 6 lanes varying on the place. And depending on the time, the traffic can be smooth, or become the world’s longest parking lot. Apologies to the citizens of Atlanta, but I swear this city has some of the most retarded and careless drivers. Or maybe this is how all big cities are and I’ve just become a country bumpkin from living in Auburndale for too long.

And obviously, I got used to downtown. Lucky for me, I don’t have much business in downtown, so I don’t need to deal with the parking. If I do have business there, I park on the Tech campus and ride my MTB. I’m glad I’m not the only one to ride a bike wearing business attire(lol). Walking through downtown Atlanta is really fun, there’s plenty to see. I used to think that Atlanta had nothing to see and was not a place for tourists, and although its not chock full of attractions, it has quite the deal if you know where to look.

There’s the Georgia Aquarium, which is quite the spectacle inside. And look at that long line.

That’s the tank for all kinds of fish and aquatic things, and I always wondered how it would look like if the window broke(lol).
But aside from the GFish Aquarium, there’s the Olympic Centennial Park, The Museum of Coca-Cola, the CNN Building I pictured earlier, the Georgia Dome, the Convention Center, Georgia Tech, Underground Atlanta, and an underground parking facility so large it has street names(and still no open parking spaces lol!). And speaking of GATech…

The Dorms!

There’s place I got familiar with, as some of my new friends live on campus and my brother is an alumni of GATech as well. I love the campus, its got a little of history in it, but also has some modern aspects, like a really huge, multi-story athletic facility. And it actually feels smaller than USF and now that I have a bike, I can zoom around campus within minutes. I’ve become quite accustomed to setting that MTB in my trunk every morning.

I’ve become accustomed to Atlanta’s cold mornings being stuck in traffic, although I haven’t seen a “red morning” yet. I’d like to though, it looks kind of cool.
I’ve also become acquainted with my home and office, but no pictures of those until I get my camera. Although I do have a story to tell about my home and of my office.
When I first got to Atlanta, I settled into a nice apartment on the north side of the city, But after a few months, I’m talking to my friends about all of us moving into a house on the northeast side of Atlanta. There will be four of us, so it will quite a large house, but I think it will be better(and less depressing) than living alone.
As for work, I went to the office today, expecting a nice and normal day of work. But as soon as I stepped into the office, the boss showed up and told me to go home.
The Boss: “Hey, go home, you can have the day off today.”
Me: “But I just got here.”
Boss: “That’s okay, you’re getting paid anyway, so just take the day off and relax.”
Me: “But I want to work!”
Boss: “Are you crazy? Go and have some fun like other kids your age.”
Me: “But work is fun to me.”
Boss: “…You don’t have a lot of friends, do you?”
Me: “Touche.”
So with that discussion passed, I think there were a little more words than I can recall, but I decided to follow his advice and go home.

Back to my first weeks, surprisingly, the one place I haven’t really come to know yet was the airport(and we all know how I love airports). I already had a glimpse at Atlanta’s transit system called Marta, which is pretty cool. There’s subways and trains and things, I think I’ll ride it one day when I have a chance. And I’ll also find(or take) some pictures of it too. I think I’ll look forward to that, and I’m the only person alive who would go to the airport just to have fun(lol).
Anyway, I think that’s all I will talk about today. Anymore and I’ll start getting off topic.

So it was snowing the other day...

Clearly at the end of winter, it must snow. Wow. Spend some time out in the snow, it was lovely to see the snow after many years of not seeing it. Too bad the experience was downgraded because I was stuck with a crutch. More on that later. For now let me talk about one event that happened somewhat recently.
(And for the record, that’s the fat bird I was talking about before.  and this picture was taken with my horrible camera phone)
As we all know, February 14th was Valentine’s Day, or Single Awareness Day, depending on the type of person you are. For me, I use it as an excuse to try baking some sort of cake or confectionery once a year. I don’t do a lot of sweet stuff, so it’s a rare chance. This time around, I just decided to try out the Japanese custard pudding.
Anyway, this event actually happened a few weeks later, although it began on that day. As expected, the office was a buzz on Valentine’s Day, and I specifically mentioned to not leave chocolates around my office. I got through the day just fine, as there was not that many people there to begin with(since this Valentine’s Day landed on a Saturday”. But a few weeks later, I walked into my office one day to find chocolates everywhere. There was chocolates on everything, my desk, chair, computer, bookcase, file cabinet, and even on my window. There were chocolates of all kinds too, Godiva, Hershey’s. Nestle’s, and more. It was ultimately the best prank my coworkers pulled on me since I started working here. It took me four boxes to get it all home, to which I realized I should have never brought it home.
Being the person I am, I could not just sit there and get pranked. So I came back to the office the next day and used their chocolates against them. Everyone began to find chocolates in the most random places around the office, and it soon became a scavenger hunt for chocolate. I hid the chocolate everywhere, in the copier, in the lounge, in their file cabinets, taped one to the ceiling. My coworkers are suckers for sweets. In the end, I enjoyed(and I hope they enjoyed) my little revenge plot. I think everyone was happy in the end, everyone got chocolate, and my desk was clean.
And one of these days, I’m going to remind myselfto take pictures of my awesome office. I’m trying to get a hold of one of those larger waterfall things that you see in some greater offices. I am also still looking for a decent camera that isn’t too costly, I may be rich, but I’m not wasting money on it. Suggestions would be appreciated.
Hm, I think my rants are getting shorter. Oh well.

Easily one of the better anime casts I've seen.

Now onto part 2 of what my day looks like! I believe I left off right before heading to work, so here goes!
Oh yeah, and before I forget, still reading Spiral: Bonds of Reasoning. It’s so much better than the anime. Ayumu Narumi is a lot cooler and more comedic at moments, and Hiyono is…well, Hiyono lol.  Still looking for a good camera that doesn’t cost an arm to be surgically removed.

1500: No matter what, I’m at work by this time. But most of the time a little earlier. My official start time is at 1400, but after coming early for my first week they told me to start showing up later.  I have no complaints! Now, I want to talk about my job for a minute or so, because it’s awesome. I work on the second floor of an office building in the north side of Atlanta, my office is a cozy 2×2 meter room with a giant window, a large desk, a comfy office chair, a bookcase, two guest seats, a mysterious potted plant. When I moved in, I added a small file cabinet, my computer(which I spent the second week at work to build, they allowed it, so I did it), and a Demotivational poster on my empty bookshelf. And a Nerf gun I keep until my desk at all times in case of a surprise attack. My skill with my gun is long range attacks, but my neighbor can spray and pray. Everyone else in the office has lame pistols and such, except for one guy who has a ball launcher. In the Nerf world, I guess that’s similar to a grenade launcher lol. But besides the crazy cubicle/trench wars that we have in the office, each and every day is enjoy with the various types of people who work there. It’s kind of like The Office in many ways.
1700: There’s usually a conference at around this time, its all work related, so I’m hard at work at around this time. But sometimes even when there’s nothing to discuss, this meeting is called anyway because we’re all so used to sitting in the room at that specific time of day. And once, it was just an ambush for when that guy first got his Nerf machine gun.
1900: It’s time to head home, whether they kick me out of the office or I leave voluntarily(Surprisingly, the former happens more often). But many times, I get invited to a dinner outing with coworkers or some social event. Last week we all hit the golf range, a while before that, one of the other coworkers invited me for a trip to the shooting range. But there are times when I head straight back to my neighborhood. When that time comes, I find myself shopping for groceries, tending to my car’s needs, or eating at a new restaurant I found.
2000: Hello again Spaghetti Junction.
2100: I usually arrive at home around this time. Do the necessaries, like shower and have dinner if I hadn’t already. A few years back, I liked coming back to a quiet home because it was peaceful. Now it’s kind of depressing, so I try to stay out of it as much as possible. It’s a nice place no doubt in my mind, but still depressing.
2130: Time for the internet! It’s either internet, The Food Network, The Weather Channel, talking to friends, anime, gaming, or reading, that happens at this time. And lately, Spiral has been the one to occupy this time slot.
2200: If it hasn’t started already, the gaming is usually heating up now. With more and more friends showing online, we get more people to mercilessly punch in the face. And speaking of punch in the face…
Zero Hour!: Still playing games, or on the internet. Sometimes I’ll go out for some Fourthmeal, or just get some ice cream. Did I mention Zero Hour is one of my favorite games?
0300: I usually hit the sack here, sometimes a little before, or a little later. Recently it’s been a little later because of Spiral reading.

That’s pretty much what a day looks like for me here in Atlanta. It’s much different from my average day in Tampa, which is great. Well, that’s all for me today. Next time, I think I’ll talk about my first adventure, “The Chocolate Attack”.

So yeah, I haven’t updated in a while because I paid more attention to the File Cabinet as of late. Between playing tons of video games, watching TV, watching crappy anime, reading sonic comics, school, and work, I don’t have as much as I used to. Life in Atlanta is normal as it has always been, nothing really worth mentioning. Until now.
For those of you who have been reading for a long time, you may recognize the title which I stole from “A Day in the Life of That Asian Guy”, which I used to write back during my freshman year of college when I lived in Tampa. I figured I should start it up again with all the new adventures starting up here in Atlanta. Not to mention some of the stuff I’ve been writing for the File Cabinet seriously lacked in the happy factor and this should do the trick. The Xanadu Network was always the happier half of the two blogs. haha.
Well, for those of you wondering, “A Day in the Life of That Asian Guy” was something I worked on for only a few months, and is sadly not on this site anymore. I deleted because I feared I was turning emo lol. Anyway, it was like a true blog post, highlighting an interesting event during one of the seven days during the week. Before its final post, I had the chance to make a movie version. A friend of mine wanted to submit something to the local student films festival, and I gave him the idea of using my “A Day in the Life of That Asian Guy” as a start. In the end, we had a 45 minute long movie which showcased what a not-so-average day looked like in my shoes. Although it was only 45 minutes long, it took us an entire week to film and another to edit.
It was a fun experience, we had to a lot of things I never thought I would be able to do. We had to do some rough ad-lib because the wind picked up during some scenes and our voices disappeared. And many scenes we had to do retake after retake because we caught something in the editing process that should not have been there. And for me, the hardest part was surviving the segment which I get hit by anything on wheels. In reality, I oh-so-often get hit by anything with wheels. In the movie, we decided to fully make use of that for comedic effect and let me get hit by practically anything that is capable of moving.
Anyway, the result was that he did not win anything for the film festival, but we made a lot of people laugh and that meant something. And we had so much fun doing it the first time, we did it again and named the sequel “The Weekend of That Asian Guy”. The sequel focused on what I did during the weekends, and the funny part is we actually filmed what was supposed to be Sunday night on a Thursday night. Nobody noticed lol.

Getting to the point, I figured to restart this instant fun for myself because of all the interesting things that are happening here in Atlanta. But before one can fully enjoy the adventures I shall write about in the future, one must see what my average day looks like.
And for the record, I’m currently shopping for a decent camera so the future posts actually have some pictures so you don;t have to completely depend on your imagination.

0555: What the fuck? Why does my body do that? Wakes up five minutes before the alarm goes off. Everytime. Why won’t it let me sleep until 0600? I’ll just stay in bed until then anyway. That’s the biological alarm clock for ya.
0600: Get out of bed, get to feel how freezing it is in the morning. I’m pretty sure in the summer I’ll be complaining how hot it is. Well, I like cold better than hot so this isn’t bad.
0615: After waking up and getting ready for the day, its time for the morning run. Ever since high school, I run two miles every morning to keep healthy and strong. That run with some other exercises keeps me in shape for the day the zombies rise! lol
0645: After all that sweat, time for breakfast. Its usually something simple, like scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and soup. But sometimes I feel good enough to be adventurous and make an omelet or have an Asian-style breakfast with rice, miso soup, and fish.
0710: I always, always leave the house late. I tell myself to leave at 0700 so I’m not late for the first class of the day, but that never happens. Cooking, eating, and cleaning, takes way too much time. Plus I still have to get ready for the day ahead.
0730: If leaving the house late wasn’t enough, now there’s traffic. Let me introduce you to one of Atlanta’s urban wonders, what the locals call the Spaghetti Junction. Just to give you an idea of its scale…

This manmade feat of engineering causes jams like no other, and I have to visit this beast at least two times a day. But if I’m lucky, I’ll make it through. And just like that…
0755: I make it in time! Now, I love GATech will all my heart, its a awesome campus with awesome people. But parking is a little hard. But that’s okay, that’s why I run everyday, so I can run to class at top speed! I think the students are getting used to me running around their campus now, too bad the buses are not, we’ll get to that later.
0800: In class, and falling asleep. I really could’ve used those five minutes this morning. I can’t hear the professor! Not like I would pay attention anyway, I’m one of those self-proclaimed geniuses, and luckily for me, my genes back me up on that one. Well, this class is an hour long. I usually spend my time doodling or working on those stories which I think I’ll talk about at some other time.
0855: I love how hour-long classes are never truly an hour long. Better for me that way. Anyway, its Starbucks time. Anyone who knows me, knows that I’m a Starbucks Loyalist to the core, I even have a Starbucks Card, Starbucks could start selling overpriced water in a cup and I’d probably buy it. My favorite drink? Strawberries & Creme, and I don’t care what anyone has to say about that! lol
0910: After spending some time in Starbucks, I usually find a nice place to sit and use my laptop to access the wonderful world of the internet! Get some music playing, read the news, check my email, all that fun stuff. Then I check to make sure I have my assignments done for my next class. My next class is by far the hardest thing I have to deal with all day, so I like to be prepared. To some extent. Life can’t be too easy! lol
1000: And here we are, one hour of hell. But of course, being the genius that I am, I continue to suf the internet, specifically fat birds on ebay. Oh, and fat Orca whales too. By this time of day, some of my friends start trickling online and I get to talk to them through the windows live messenger. Most of them don’t even have a class until noon, lucky. At this time, I also start figuring out what to post on my blogs if anything. It’s usually some video a friend showed me the night before or if I’m feeling creative enough it would be something of my own. And curse you Benny Lava…I’d rather have Home stuck in my head.
1100: Hey, back outside into the sunlight. Back to surfing the internet and youtube and such. Some of my west coast buddies are waking up now, they have to wake up early like me. I feel sorry for them sometimes, but then I remember my own situation lol. During this one hour break, I also try to get some food, Einstein Bros is expensive but tasty. And I’ll talk about my quest to rich but not a snob some other day. And sometimes I’m able to play a few games. Mind you I’m on a laptop out here, so there’s nothing heavy duty like Fallout 3 or Dead Space, but I do play Audiosurf every now and then. I also use this time to play with my PSP, my latest craze is Patapon and their crazy musical adventure. It’s pretty fun, kinda like how I was stuck on Lumines when I first got it.
1200: Last class of the day, usually when I post stuff on the blog. This is mainly a lecture hall, so there’s really no reason to be here if you’ve already read the textbook three times over like I have. But sometimes announcements are made and you can’t afford to miss them. Especially the “class is cancelled next week” one, that’d be a bad one to miss lol.
1300: Now here’s where my day to day schedule starts to have some variety. Sometimes I leave campus and go to work right away. Other times, I stick around to talk to friends or eat lunch if I couldn’t earlier. And sometimes I just sit around aimlessly wandering the internet because I don’t feel like leaving just yet.

Originally, this was supposed to be a post of the latest anime season and all of its goodness. But seeing as how this season truly lacks that goodness, I decided to change it up a little. I’d like to talk about anime OPs and EDs for a while because I enjoy them so much. I like the OPs for more reasons than the music and the usage of scenes within the show itself. You can usually tell the quality of the anime that will be present in the anime by the OP, although the OP is usually the best animated because youll have to put up with it for every episode. But the minute and half sure has good music, although sometimes unfitting. Nonetheless, I like to judge anime bytheir cover because I don’t like to watch pure crap. And most of the time, the judgement serves my tastes. Now let’s quickly run through some OPs and EDs before the time runs out.

Birdy the Mighty Decode
First up, is Birdy the Mighty Decode, a scifi show with its fair share of action and comedy. The animation is good, and the music is a good listen. Did you know that this anime is actually remake? The original was a manga which had an adaptation called Birdy the Mighty. I’m trying to get my hands on both of them at the moment.

Maria+Holic
This was one of the few animes I picked up at the start of ‘09, its just comedy but hilarious comedy. I’ve seen the trap comedy before but this studio just knows what I like. A different style, different stories, and different characters, with a pretty catchy OP and ED to boot.

ED -Kimi Ni, Mune Kyun by Yu Kobayashi, Asami Sanada, and Marina Inoue
Did you know this song is actually a remake of this? Hilarious in it’s own right, but I like Maria+Holic’s version better.

Xam’d of the Lost Memories
The first anime to be shown on the Playstation Network I believe, and its really something too. A noteworthy story, well-developed characters, and a plot that isn’t full of holes. Just having that in an anime is a feat these days. And the OP is in english? Or is it?

OP – Shut Up and Explode by Boom Boom Satellites

To Aru Majutsu No Index
A Certain Magical Index, if I translated it correctly. It’s the loli/DFC anime of the season, with Mami Kawada singing the OP again. Solid animation is the strong point, along with some comedy.  I have to admit, Kawada does a good job with the OPs she has done.

Clannad After Story
Picking up where Clannad left off, this is just painful for me. As  Kyou and Tomoyo fan, this plot just blows because you already know what’s going to happen. It still has the comedy that floors me, but some of the more dramatic moments are just… overdramatic. Nonetheless, I liked the OP from Clannad and well as After Story. And I will forever be a Key fan.

OP – Toki Wo Kizamu Uta by Lia

Toradora
The current number one on my anime watch list at the moment, this slice-of-life is a breath of fresh air. There’s no over-the-top scifi, crazy plots, or magic-blasting lolis, but man is it good. It’s realistic with its diverse characters in the everyday setting of high school. Although it could be classified as a harem show, it hardly seems that way. The comedy is great and the dramatic pieces are done so they don’t seem exagerated. The OPs and EDs are catchy and made by one of my most favorite voice actors of all time. Did you know her voice acting career started in 1997, she hit stardom when she voiced Naru Narusegawa in Love Hina, one of my most favorite animes of all time.

ef Tale of Melodies
The same studio that brings us Maria+Holic also brought us ef Tale of Melodies, and its predecessor, ef Tale of Memories. Great stories, developed characters, and that same different animation style that I’ve come to know and love. The music for the ef series was also great and matched the show well, enhancing the points in the story when used.

OP – Ebullient Future by Elisa

Rosario + Vampire
I like to call it the Dumbening after reading Megatokyo, because its all about the fanservice. Season 2 upped the dosage of stupid with even more stupidity and fanservice. This was a good one if you wanted a numb feeling in your brain. But I give it this: the OP was stuck in my head for days.

OP -DISCOTHEQUE by Nana Mizuki

Detective Conan
As I am a fan of this long-running detective show, I just had to pick up some OPs from it. You can definitely see the show improve from its early days in both animation quality, music, and the story itself. Currently, it is the only long-running show that I am a fan of besides Full Metal Alchemist and Monster.

OP – Mysterious by Naifu

OP – Revive by Mai Kuraki

Monster
and here it is! It’s a psychological mystery murder thriller anime, if I can categorize it correctly. Just listen to that OP, no words have never been done better. The plot just keeps you on the edge of your seat, the characters are so detailed and lifelike, and anime is quite good, and I loved every minute of it.

And I’d just like to mention how awesome Kara No Kyoukai is. If you haven’t seen it already, go watch all five of the movies currently out now!

Anyway, Code Geass was a awesome and epic trainwreck series which was full of twists and plotholes. But I loved it every second of the way. It had awesome characters, action-packed fight scenes, hilarious drama, and randomly inserted humor. I still listen to all the opening songs, and I’m definitely getting the DVDs when they hit Britannia… I mean America.
Lelouch remains as my most favorite character of all time, and Code Geass as one of my most favorite animes of all time. I’ll never forget this show, and I know that someday in the future I’ll watch it again and have the same reaction as I did today. Code Geass and Lelouch, I salute you!

Time for some games!

We got a lot to cover today since I’ve been neglecting everything again, so let’s get started! Today, let’s go through some games. Games of all kinds! Shooters, RPGs, Adventure, Strategy, MMO, and all sorts of stuff. It’s going to be quite the gaming season coming up, so many games I want to play. With so many games coming out, what are you looking forward to? Here’s some on my list.
Before we go into what I want, let’s review some that I just played. It’s always good to see what came out before just in case the long awaited games turn out to flop like Force Unleashed.

• Travian - This browser-based real-time strategy came around the net a few years ago and had apparently gained some popularity. It’s pretty straightforward, build your village, train your army, go raid other people’s villages. Just watch out, waiting for your resources to pile up is addicting as is annoying.
• Sword of the New World - This MMORPG has been out for a while, but I just jumped aboard the fun. It’s main selling point is the multi-character control, which let’s you control up to three people at the same time. You think micro’ing one character is hard? Try three. Other than the MCC, its got pretty much what every other MMO offers, quests, job classes, and lots of things to hack and slash. The largest negative I can think of is that character customization is practically nonexistent. But that’s why the next one hits this list.
• Perfect World – I just hopped on this train, so I don’t know too much about it. What I can say though is that character creation is as good as the Sims. With its awesome character creation its not surprising that every character could look different. I’ll talk more about this one once I play it a little more.

That’s what I’ve been playing, mostly influenced by my anime club. MMOs are always more fun with friends. Those kinds of games aside, I also learned how to play Mahjong and Shogi. But enough about that, now here’s what I’m looking forward to!

• Red Alert 3 – Real-time Strategy at its best, Command & Conquer does it again. I’ve been a fan since the first Command & Conquer and Red Alert 3 offers nothing but awesomeness. I’ve been a part of the beta since the start and have watched it being tweaked over the months. There’s not much I can complain about, besides the Kirov turning into Hindenburgs all over the place.
• Dead Space – This is the next horror game coming out(I don’t consider Resident Evil as horror, who does?), and boy does it look great. It’s creepy, got some new game mechanics, and its looks pretty fun. This I got to get.
• LittleBigPlanet - This fun little party game with sackboy looks entertaining and looks like a fun party game too. Sandbox looks really fun and creative, I’m looking forward to countless hours of level creation!
• F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin – The next installment of the F.E.A.R. franchise of awesomeness. New weapons, new enemies, new ways to get scared until you pee your pants. And I’m looking forward to it, all of it.
• Resident Evil 5 - Zombies and stuff in Africa, nice. I’m just looking forward to awesome co-op madness though.
• Call of Duty: World at War – As a fan of Call of Duty, I must have it. So they’re doing the over-used World War Two Pacific Front, oh well. I still think they will do better than Medal of Honor did. And of course, awesome co-op again.
• Final Fantasy XIII and Versus XIII - Come on, it’s Final Fantasy, RPG giant. Who’s not going to get it?
• Sonic Unleashed – I’m a hardcore Sonic fan, and this looks better than the last few games in the Sonic franchise. Graphics, catchy music, side-scrolling bosses, and running at break-neck speeds? Count me in.
• Resistance 2 – I personally think the first one was quite good, just got overshadowed by the awesomeness that is Gears of War. Speaking of Gears…
• Gears of War 2 – I don’t even need to say anything.
• Need For Speed Undercover – I’ve always loved Need For Speed. It’s got the cars, the customization, and the adrenaline-pumping races. This one’s going to be another hell of a ride.
• Prince of Persia – Hey, just watching the trailers. But looking good!

I’m sure there are a ton of games I’m missing, maybe I’ll add them as I remember them. Now if you will excuse me, I have to play the Red Alert 3 Beta before it closes in a few days.
